Seasonal Greetings
It's 13 sleeps (lucky for some!) to go, 12 water shoes packed, 11 vaccinations jabbed, 10 sheep left at home agrazing, 9 inches of paperwork filed, 8 excited children's feet running, 7 coats in the suitcase (one spare!), 6 people ready for a family adventure, 5 more grey-ey hairs(!!!), 4 days left of school, 3 tonnes of camera equipment waiting, 2 [hundred] prezzies to wrap and.... AND.... A VERY BIG ADVENTURE AWAITING!!
Yep, it's happening. The Carter Family are just two weeks away from our first proper overseas adventure together. In just a fortnight's time, we will be jetting towards Indonesia, our home for seven weeks (half a term). We'll be working and exploring and learning and experiencing all at the same time. It's gonna be wild!
Introducing Clan Carter:
Edwin (46) - "The Organiser" - a high achiever taking some time off. Here's hoping the core of this beautiful soul will be dusted off from the daily detritus of life in a busy family in your forties. On the cusp of a midlife crisis, this could go either way!
Jess (39) - "The Storyteller" - an adventurer at heart, somewhat incognito as the sculpting of a career in sustainability whilst balancing home life on our Devon smallholding and juggling the needs of four littlies has been pretty all consuming. The finder of fun, the lover of nature, I can't believe this idea is actually coming to fruition. What a flipping joy!
Oliver (7) - "The Dreamer" - way beyond his years, at just seven years old, he is a curious individual fascinated by detail yet secure in the unchanged. A lover of den-making, LEGO and coming up with even better plans than his parents, who knows how this sensitive Christopher Robin character will react to a life less ordinary. No doubt he'll find his niche!
Rowan (5) - "The Discoverer" - a coiled spring with a soft centre. Animal lover and naturalist with the stubbornist of streaks, this mini-me will no doubt embrace the opportunity to climb, dig, delve and discover. If there's a sea, he'll jump into it, a hole, he will stick his finger in it.
Alfie & Hamish (3) - "The Twins" - gentle yet determined, these are identical twins with a difference. Alfie, an outgoing chap full of beans, some awesome dance moves and a boldness which will walk himself in the pitch dark to sit next to a stranger to toast marshmallows. Hamish, a clingier chap with a sparkle in his eye and a head tilt that makes you want to do whatever it is that he asks of you. Funny antics in duplicate, they'll certainly be ones to watch!
Fran/Dordor (73) - "The Granny" - as young at heart as her littlest grandsons, despite having a family spread around the globe, this will be her first trip to non-western territories.

Devon > Heathrow > Singapore > Medan > Simeulue > Medan > Surabaya > Bali > Heathrow > Devon.
